A week in view

After a stunning weekend of sport, we thought it was time for an update on who has been in the taxi over the last few days.

On Thursday night, we took the Lowy family to the Olympic Park. Chairman Frank Lowy, his son and co-Chief Executive, Steven Lowy, and their wives, visited the Aquatics Centre as guests of the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, and the Deputy Mayor, Kit Malthouse. The Lowys own global retail giant, Westfield, which has shopping centres in the USA, Australia, New Zealand and the UK, including Westfield Stratford City, at the entrance to the Olympic park.

Friday saw the turn of media mogul, and Head of News Corp, Rupert Murdoch and his wife Wendi Deng, to get a lift in the taxi from News International’s HQ. They were personal guests of Boris Johnson to watch the Men’s 100m Butterfly final and other swimming events.

On Sunday, Mr and Mrs Pidgley, owners of the Berkeley Group, a large British house building firm, were delivered to the Olympic park in our taxi. They travelled as guests of the Greater London Authority to watch Usain Bolt win the Men’s 100m final and set a new Olympic record.

Boris Johnson has been accompanying his guests in our taxis to and from venues within the Olympics Park. After last night’s journey, we found he had left his cycling helmet on the back seat. Thankfully it has now been reunited with Boris, but we took a quick snap before handing it back.
